The new film Rebel Moon was created by the man who thought Star Wars could be his own. The story is about a woman who travels the universe putting together a group of people to defend a small village from a planet called Motherworld. The trailers for the film make it clear that it is a remake of Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven. io9 asked the director if the movie would have been different if it was set in a galaxy far, far away, and he said it would have been different. I think my tone is closer to an R-rated one. This is a very direct reference to Star Wars and because of that, he had to spin it. The bar has to be more ominous, because you have to make a statement about your awareness of where you are. It helps the audience who are 100% aware of the mythology that we are kind of toying with by being self aware.
It would have been even better if it was a Star Wars movie.
