The heir to the L'Oréal beauty empire is the first woman to be worth over $100 billion. After hitting a record high on Thursday, L'Oréal's stock is up 34% year-to-date. On Thursday, her net worth reached $100.1 billion, thanks to a rise in L'Oréal stock. The matriarch of the family is the largest shareholder of the company founded by her grandfather in 1909. When her mother died, Bettencourt was left with tens of billions of dollars, as well as assets such as mansions. She is also the author of two books, a five-volume study of the Bible and a genealogy of Greek gods. Even though Bettencourt Meyer's fortune has reached the $100 billion mark, her wealth is still behind that of Bernard Arnault. The world's second-richest person with a net worth of $179 billion is Arnault.
