The actor and stuntwoman was involved in a hit-and-run in New York on New Year's Day. Carrie had many broken bones, and she had chipping teeth.
According to a statement from her representative to PEOPLE, Carrie Bernans, aged 29, sustained critical injuries when a driver crashed into the outdoor dining area of the restaurant. A representative for the actor said that she was in stable condition at the hospital and that her child was not at the scene of the crash. Bernans' mother posted photos of her injuries on her social media accounts. Her mother wrote in the caption, "She is still in so much pain and can't answer calls, but appreciate the messages."

Carrie's mother later updated on her situation, thanking people for their prayers and support. She is still hopeful though she is not able to walk on her own. Carrie Bernans played a member of the Dora Milaje fighting force in 'Black Panther' and performed stunts in the musical version of 'The Color Purple'.
