Do I need special equipment to look at the eclipse? When the moon is blocking out the sun's disk in a total solar eclipse, you can look toward the sun with your naked eyes. You cannot use regular sunglasses. Eclipse glasses can be worn on your face, whereas viewing cards are small and can be held in your hand. Make sure to discard the viewers if they are damaged or torn.
The total solar eclipse arrives in April.
