The Senate will have a stopgap vote on Thursday.

PoliticsThe Senate will have a stopgap vote on Thursday.

Schumer said that the stopgap would give Congress time to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year.

The Senate is expected to approve the funding extension and send it to the House, which will pass it and prevent a partial government shutdown on Saturday. The continuing resolution will have to go under suspension in the House to make it to Biden's desk. Speaker Mike Johnson will need a lot of support from Democrats to get the stopgap through the lower house. Speaker Johnson wants to get this done and I think we will get it done quickly.
