The National Desk was told that the video connection between New York City and Dublin, Ireland is temporarily shutting down. The Dublin City Council said the portal was a major step forward in international relations. Lord Mayor of Dublin Daith de Riste wants to make the City more inclusive. The Portals project brings technology, engineering and art together to bring communities from across the world closer together and to allow people to meet and connect outside their social circles and cultures.

The installations have begun to cause trouble for a small group of visitors. In New York, we have had a set of protocols in place since the launch, including on-site security and barriers to prevent people from stepping onto the portal. A woman in New York shows her breasts to Dublin portal viewers while jumping up and down. Please be aware that viewer discretion is advised.

The images of the World Trade Center smoking on 9/11 and the jeering of Americans over the death of Pop Smoke stirred trouble for viewers in Dublin. The connection will be turned off for a few days and will be back on by the end of the week. Jackson Walker is on X for the latest national news.
