John Oates was involved in a lawsuit.

MusicJohn Oates was involved in a lawsuit.

John Oates is focused on his legal battle with his band mate. After Hall filed a complaint and temporary restraining order against him last month due to a joint venture between the musicians, he opened up to People magazine about his life. I want to give back; it's important to me.

Hall's lawsuit was filed in response to a proposal by Oates to sell off his share of the Whole Oats joint venture, The Associated Press reported at the time. Hall filed a suit to block the sale and named the co-trustees of the John W. Oates TISA Trust. The restraining order and summonses were issued to the couple in Nashville. The sale of Whole Oats to Primary Wave was put on hold as a result of the separate case, and it will be up to the court to decide whether or not to extend the deadline. Two weeks after his lawsuit against Oates, Hall filed a declaration stating that the joint venture included Hall & Oates trademarks, personal name and likeness rights, record royalty income and website and social media assets. Hall expressed his displeasure with his relationship with and trust in his musical partner in a declaration. The Co-Trustees tried to sell half of the WOE assets without my approval. The musician's team will work toward a resolution that makes sense for all involved, but for now we will let the facts, law and courts play out. "Maneater" and "Out of Touch" are two of the six singles that have topped the Hot 100 chart. The duo was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

John Oates is accused of the ultimate partnership betrayal by Daryl Hall.

Jonathan Mattise is with The Associated Press.
