Sources say the Hornets will trade Gordon Hayward.

SportsSources say the Hornets will trade Gordon Hayward.

Reactions that are open extended.

Sources told Adrian Wojnarowski that the Oklahoma City Thunder fortified their roster for a playoff push by acquiring Gordon Hayward from the Charlotte Hornets. He hasn't played since December because of a calf issue, but Gordon is having a good season for the Hornets. Over the past five seasons, he has played 52 games or fewer in each of them, including 25 games so far this season. The kind of versatile size on the wing that the Thunder have prioritized, and gives a young Oklahoma City team pushing toward its first playoff appearance together, is provided by the 6-foot-7 Hayward. The last year of his deal is when he will hit free agency, and he is making $32 million this season. Mann, the 18th overall pick in the draft, has only played in 13 games this season after playing in over 60 in each of the past two seasons. The Charlotte team entering a full rebuild under new owners Rick Schnall and Gabriel Plotkin should give the young player a chance to play more. The Hornets already have traded away Terry Rozier and now could make more moves before the trade deadline. The deal that saw Oklahoma City acquire the player, who played 15 games for the team, in exchange for the 10th pick in the 2023 draft went down as one of the best deals of the season. The trade exception created as a result of the move could potentially be used to facilitate more moves.
