The Apple Vision Pro was slammed by Mark Zuckerberg.

TechnologyThe Apple Vision Pro was slammed by Mark Zuckerberg.

In a Friday post, he trashed the virtual reality headset once more, saying that if Meta's Quest is like the Vision Pro in five years, "we'll have regressed significantly." You can opt out at any time. Meta's CEO exchanged messages with Benedict Evans, who was a partner at Mosaic, about whether Apple's "tradeoffs" in its virtual reality headset made it worse than Meta's $500 product. Evans wrote that he was confused by the engineers who claimed that the Vision Pro and the Quest were the same thing. Zuck said that the device Meta wants to reach in 3-6 years was pretty much what Apple was selling. If our devices weigh as much as theirs in 3-6 years, or have the motion blur theirs has, or lack of precision inputs, then that means we'll be worse off. "Yes, their resolution is higher, but they paid for that with many other product tradeoffs that make their device worse in most ways." Apple has sold over 200,000 Vision Pro units since it became available for pre-order in January compared to the 20 million units sold by Meta over the course of a year. The Reality Labs division of Meta achieved $1 billion in revenue for the first time in their fourth-quarter financials in 2023. Friday's posts were the latest in a series of comments that have been made about Apple's Vision Pro.
