Celebertti, who has led the Miss Universe franchise for more than two decades, made the announcement on Tuesday. Sheynnis Palacios, the first Central American to win the Miss Universe title, was the first to win at the event last month. For the last 23 years, Celebertti has worked with zeal and effort to exalt the name of his homeland, and he has done it with transparency because talent and beauty abound in every corner of the country. Miss Universe owner Anne Jakrajutatip voiced her support for Celebertti after she resigned.
She said that the time had come for her retirement. I know that there will be more opportunities for us, because we come from families that have always distinguished themselves by their support of the community.
The charges against Celebertti stem from a period of anti-government unrest in the country. At least 355 people were killed when police forces cracked down on the protests, and the government categorized the demonstrations as terrorism and an attempted coup. Police said they had evidence that Celebertti had used her role to turn beauty contests into political traps and ambushes.
The first ever Miss Universe was crowned on November 18 by Sheynnis Palacios.

Anne Jakrajutatip, the founder of the Miss Universe organization, thanked Celebertti for being so brave and strong, and forbelieving in what women can do and fighting against all.
Celebertti and her daughter were refused entry into the country when they tried to return from Mexico.
