Arts and EntertainmentThe Portland Art Museum has free admission every month.

If you want to go to the Portland Art Museum but don't want to pay $22 to $25 for admission, then you'll be happy to know that "First Thursdays" are coming back in 2024. The Portland Art Museum will have a free day on Thursday, January 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The first Thursday evening of the month used to be free for visitors at the museum. The exhibit at the Portland Art Museum tells a story of agency, abundance, and creativity.

Art Bridges Foundation supports the new program and will allow it to continue free First Thursday at the museum for three years. The Portland Art Museum is one of 64 organizations nationwide that will benefit from the program. Brian Ferriso, Director of the Portland Art Museum, said in a press release that he was so pleased to be able to bring this free access day back to our community. The museum is open on a monthly basis, but visitors have been requesting longer evening and weekend hours.

The Tomorrow Theater at the Portland Art Museum has announced opening programming.

The tickets for First Thursdays can be reserved a week in advance at the museum. Become a subscriber at OregonLive.com today.
