We are in the middle of a pivotal moment where the importance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is emerging. 

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, characterized by the convergence of advanced information and communication technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, and mobile, brings about innovative changes across the economy and society. 

Simultaneously, incorporating technologies like cloud computing and the Internet of Things into traditional industries can create significant disruptions. 

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, with its features of hyperconnectivity and superintelligence, can influence a broader range at a faster pace compared to previous industrial revolutions.

In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this article aims to discuss the significance of “coding.”

Commonly used devices like laptops and computers operate based on binary code, where the combination of 0s and 1s forms various codes. 

The popularization of smartphones by companies like Apple in the United States led to the mainstreaming of the occupation of “a developer.” 

A developer is someone who combines a series of computer languages to create something new. Platforms such as Android and iOS dominate the current market, with Samsung relying on Android and Apple’s products centered around iOS. 

Specifically, developers use the language JAVA to code, a process known as coding. Taking Samsung Galaxy phones as an example, developers code based on Android Studio. 

Through a combination of fixed values and input processes, various variables can be formed, which we integrate into real-life applications or use to create diverse outcomes.

The potential of coding in today’s society is limitless. From everyday applications to high-performance apps with advanced technology, coding is involved in the process of every outcome. 

In a simplified definition, coding can be seen as the process of transforming nothing into something. Systems managing customer data, machines operating with a simple click, and predicting the future are all considered part of coding. 

Even the way search engines display related keywords when searching for a specific word is an effect of variables. 

For instance, in the TOEFL IBT Speaking Writing test conducted by ETS, an AI coded through computer programming initially grades test-takers’ responses. 

Beyond just residing in smartphones and machines, coding’s possibilities extend to virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI). With more complex and diverse code combinations, it is expected that more astonishing inventions will emerge in the present and future.

The significance of coding lies in one’s ability to take the lead and create remarkable discoveries and results. 

Another meaning is found in bringing one’s ideas to life based on computer languages. What we imagine can become a reality through the coding process. 

Escaping from a passive life and actively analyzing something can provide significant inspiration. Additionally, through the debugging process of finding errors in one’s code, understanding one’s mistakes becomes intuitive. 

This process of discovering and improving errors is not only crucial in coding but also in society. 

While coding requires patience and study, the lessons learned through the process of achieving the desired results can be invaluable. 

In the current era where most people use computers, I believe that creating something new, rather than just using someone else’s product, is also a worthwhile endeavor.
