The 105th edition of Pitti Uomo, the men's fair which takes place in Florence twice a year, will arrive on January 9 and begin the Men's Fashion Week A/W 2024. At the former, expect a return to the city for Jonathan Anderson, as well as the usual slew of Milanese classics. The question of how to top the spectacle of his blockbuster debut at Louis Vuitton last June with his sophomore outing for the storied house will be answered at the latter. What to expect at Men's Fashion Week A/W 2024.
Magliano's A/W 2023 collection will be on display at Pitti Uomo. The Bologna-based brand will be one of Pitti Uomo's guest designers this season. The Italian and British brands often have an exploration of class and identity in their collections. The city of Bologna has a rich history of protest and has an observation of Britain's still-prevalent class. American designer Todd Sydner will show a collection at the fair, while the colourful designer behind cult Majorcan shoe brand Camper will show his first eponymous fashion collection on January 11. Italian brand Tod's will reveal an anticipated collaboration with Automobili Lamborghini, Guess Jeans will reveal a sustainable alternative to its traditional stonewashing, and Brunello Cucinelli will host a typically lavish dinner, heralding the arrival of the brand. The recent London exhibition of Architectural Review covers will be brought to the Florence store by Margaret Howell. The Milan Fashion Week Men will open with a debut of a collection by Sabato De sarno, the first for Gucci. If that set the tone for the Italian designer's tenure, expect more 'Ancora Rosso', the designer's signature oxblood-red hue, alongside his luxurious, irreverent riffs on wardrobe classics. Stone Island will host its very first runway show at 6pm the same day as the Milan show. The rest of the calendar has a lot of Milan-based fashion designers showing their latest collections, including Prada, Giorgio Armani, and even Jonathan Anderson's eponymous line. The Louis Vuitton menswear S/S 2024, which marked the debut of Pharrell Williams at the house, was held at Paris Fashion Week. He will present his second collection on the opening evening of Paris Fashion Week Men's. After Matthew M Williams left in December, the first show will be designed by an in-house team, before another Parisian outing from British designer Grace Wales Bonner, who will show at 6:30pm that evening. Rick Owens' brand of showmanship and Kim Jones' latest outing at Dior are some of the highlights. The schedule includes established names such as Paul Smith, Comme des Garons, Issey Miyake, and Dries Van Noten, as well as an energetic new generation of designers such as Botter, Kiko Kostadinov and Winnie.
