"Throwback Thursday" is being moved up a couple days this week in honor of a special occasion. The royal family posted a photo of Kate from last year on their social media accounts on Tuesday in honor of Princess Kate's 42nd birthday. The Princess of Wales wore Alexander McQueen as her father-in-law ascended to the throne. She arrived at the abbey in an ivory silk crepe dress embroidered with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. Princess Diana wore a headpiece and earrings that belonged to her, as well as a dress that peeked out beneath her blue and red robe. Bells were rung in honor of Princess Kate's birthday. The bell ringers at the abbey are ringing 534 changes of Stedman Caters, followed by a course of Sgurr A'Chaorachain Surprise Royal. The royal family wished Princess Kate a happy birthday by sharing a photo of her from Wales.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and Princess Kate were named the new Prince and Princess of Wales. "With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given," Charles said. William and Kate shared a black-and-white Christmas portrait of them with their children, Prince George Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in December. A new family photo is on a Christmas card.
