CelebrityThe first female actor to win a Golden Globe identifies as indigenous.

This is the first time a woman has won for her performance in a film. She said during her speech that she was holding it with her sisters. The Blackfeet Nation is the "beautiful community, nation that raised me and encouraged me to keep going, keep doing this."

She said that her mom, who is not Blackfeet, worked hard to get our language into our classrooms so she had a Blackfeet English teacher growing up.

In this business, native actors used to speak their lines in English and then the sound mixers would run them backwards to accomplish native languages on camera, so Gladstone expressed her gratitude for being able to speak a little bit of her language.

She is a member of the Kainai and Amskapi Piikani First Nations. She received her first Globe nomination for her role in "Killers of the Flower Moon."
