A founding member of a 1980s California-based experimental band was arrested Tuesday in connection to the death of his girlfriend. Theobald "Theo" Lengyel was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Alice "Alyx" Kamaka. Dally said that his agency and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office arrested Lengyel Tuesday after an investigation led detectives to a wooded area. Capitola is a city in the Bay Area that is located about 80 miles south of Berkeley. The cause of death and the identification of the human remains are still being investigated, according to police.
It was not immediately known who reported her missing, but Capitola police, in conjunction with the El Cerrito Police Department, initiated an investigation into her disappearance.
"After a weeks-long investigation, it became clear that foul play was involved, leading to the identification of Lengyel as a suspect," Dally said.
Motive is not immediately known.
The case remained open and under investigation.
