Fans were confused when they saw her name in the "Meet the Artist" spotlight video, as she was actually called "Malia Ann", seemingly in an effort to distance herself from her powerful parents who have also launched careers in entertainment. The former president and first lady did not go to the film festival because Barack's daughter made her red carpet debut at the premiere. She described her project as an odd little story, but a man grieving the death of his mother after she leaves him an unusual request in her will.
